Kentucky Football: Who will be the offensive sleeper pick this season?
Last season saw Benny Snell take the SEC by storm. This season, who will be Kentucky Football’s offensive sleeper?
Benny Snell was one of the biggest stories of the 2016 season. Is there another Kentucky Football star ready to break through for a big season in 2017? Here’s a few names that people can expect some big things from.
- Benny Snell
- Stephen Johnson
- Garrett Johnson
Those names are probably going to be the bulk of the offense. But, when looking at the big picture, there are a few other names that will contribute heavily to the success of the Wildcats.
Guys like Lynn Bowden, AJ Rose, Sihiem King, and CJ Conrad are expected to provide a spark to Eddie Gran’s unit. But, the player everyone needs to have their eye on is definitely Clevan Thomas.
Clevan Thomas
Clevan Thomas is an early enrollee who impressed during the Spring Game. The 5-foot-10 receiver was a three-star player coming out of high school. Eddie Gran recruited this young man to be a burner on the boundary. Thomas is flexed to be a slot receiver at the next level. Currently, the slot will be held down by Garrett Johnson and Charles Walker. But, I find it hard to believe that Gran will not have some sets that include the talented freshman.
Thomas and Lynn Bowden will be the premier receiving threat at Kentucky for a long period of time. The level of recruitment going on currently at Kentucky is uplifting to football fans.
If Clevan Thomas can find his way onto the scene, whether that be returning kicks, or catching slip screens in the offensive backfield, he will be the next breakout star for Kentucky.

It may not be Benny Snell-esque in terms of numbers and stats, but contributions should be abundant no less. Clevan Thomas is the real deal and Kentucky Football fans need to gear up for an exciting year.
