Kentucky Football: Jarren Williams finishes as one of the Elite 11

The Elite 11 is a quarterback competition to name the top prospects in the nations. Kentucky Football commit, Jarren Williams makes the cut.

Kentucky Football commit, Jarren Williams has made the list as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Williams competed in the Elite 11 competition in Los Angeles California this weekend. The review are out. He’s good. Also, making the cut at the Elite 11 gives Williams a ticket to participate in Nike’s The Opening.

Williams is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports. He is the 13th overall dual-threat quarterback in the country. Another recruiting service, Rivals.com just recently bumped Williams to a four-star ranking. Expect for the rest of the recruiting services to follow suit.

Kentucky will be getting an incredible quarterback next season. Williams has had an interesting recruitment. He first committed to Kentucky, then revoked his commitment just 10 months later. After receiving offers from nearly every SEC program, Williams decided that Kentucky was the place for him and recommitted to the Wildcats on May 15.

Quarterback Outlook

Williams will enter a crowded quarterback room when he arrives in Lexington. Additionally, he is expected to perform at a high level right away. With Stephen Johnson departing after this season, there will still be capable arm in the stable. Drew Barker, Gunnar Hoak as well as Danny Clark will still have the opportunity to win the starting jobs. All three quarterbacks ranked high as  recruits. In addition to the pressure of being a highly ranked recruit, Williams will be tasked with helping build a winning tradition. Quarterback play at Kentucky in recent years has not been adequate. turnovers and inaccuracy are common themes among recent Kentucky starters. Since Andre Woodson, Kentucky Football hasn’t had a true threat playmaker at quarterback.

The start Kentucky sure hope that Williams or one of the other prospects on the roster can give them what they need. Williams just may be the future of the Quarterback position at Kentucky.
