Mark Stoops heads north to claim the top ranked player in the state of Michigan. Kentucky Football recruiting is at another level.

Kentucky Football recruiting is off to an interesting start of the 2018 cycle. The staff is hard at work to land commitments from many different positions and players. Kentucky’s ability to reel in top talent hasn’t come very easy. Until now, there haven’t been many high profile prep stars want to commit to Kentucky.

The top ranked overall player in Michigan announced his commitment to Kentucky via Twitter. Marquan McCall is a big time commitment to this Kentucky Football program. Currently, 247Sports composite has him listed as the third ranked offensive guard in the entire country for the class of 2018. That’s some impressive credentials for the newest pledge to the class of 2018.

247Sports also has McCall listed within their top 100 prospects in all of high school football.

National recruiting director Mike Farrell cannot believe his eyes.

The measurables

McCall with a 6-foot-4 frame is a large specimen of an offensive lineman. Weighing in at 320 pounds, this kid will be able to move mountains once he gets into the college conditioning programs. The Oak Park, Michigan native will fit in nicely with the running style of football that Kentucky likes to play. Also, gaining the commitment of a player of McCall’s caliber allows room for other top players to also make the jump to the BBN.

In a video interview after McCall’s commitment, he explains that he thought of Kentucky’s coaches like family. It seems as though Coach Steve Clinkscale as well as Coach Stoops made a big impression on the young man. In addition to the commitment, which is great news, it looks like McCall is a well rounded individual that has more than football on his mind.

It also helps that he has an SEC body. Hopefull, Stoops and company can make this commitment stick. After gaining the pledge of a high profile player like Marquan McCall, Stoops needs to show that he can retain his top commitments throughout until signing day.
