Kentucky Baseball Improves to 13-1 at Home With Win Against Cincinnati

Kentucky Baseball Wins Rematch Against the Cincinnati Bearcats

Earlier this month on March 8, Kentucky Baseball fell to the Bearcats 2-1 in a pitching showdown. Flash forward to later this month, and the Wildcats avenged the loss in a 13-7 victory.

Starting out slow, pitcher Zach Thompson gave up four runs in the first inning. But the Cats battled back, thanks to a seven-run fifth inning. It was all Kentucky from that point on. Thanks to some big hits from the Cats and some bases-loaded walks by the Bearcats, No. 16 ranked Kentucky advanced to 13-1 at home, 18-7 on the season.

The bullpen came up huge in this win too, going 7 innings between Schaenzer, Cleary, and Pop. The three combined to give up only two earned runs and striking out nine.

Next up on the Schedule For the Cats

Starting a 3 game home series against the #24 Vanderbilt Commodores, Kentucky looks to continue excellent home play. Vandy is 17-9 on the season, coming off of series win over the Texas A&M, going 4-1 over their last five.

Head Coach Nick Mingione on KSR

New Kentucky Baseball head coach Nick Mingione went on KSR with Trey Huntsman and Keith Madison. Topic included comments on the new stadium project and what it will mean for the program.

Mingione and the Kentucky Wildcats have gotten hot lately, winning 17 of their last 19 games. Coach Mingione looks to have his squad in order.

The SEC is a tough conference when it comes to baseball and the Cats look to have the team to be in consideration for a conference title. The Cats pitching staff Jammu has improved From start to finish after Sean Hjelle and Justin Lewis got much needed time on the mound as Freshmen last season.
