Kentucky Basketball could be considered one of the hottest team in the country.

The Kentucky Basketball team has won it’s last 10 games in route to an SEC Championship appearance.  Many braketology services have the Wildcats as one of the six teams that could lay claim to a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The claim for Kentucky

Kentucky Basketball had played its way into contention. With an impressive run of wins closing out the regular season, the Cats have grueled out another SEC Regular Season Championship.

The argument for the Wildcats has been solidified with their will to win close games down the stretch. No one outside the AP top five has played better basketball since the Selection Committee revealed its top 16 teams. Kentucky hasn’t lost a game since the reveal. The Wildcats seem poised to take on the role.

The Others

College Basketball analyst, Seth Davis claims that the Duke Blue Devils have a great chance to snag a 1-Seed in the NCAA Tournament. Duke was a 5-Seed in their conference tournament and defeated Notre Dame to take home the ACC title.

Duke has eight losses on the season. Let that sink in. We won’t get into the specifics of who they played or whether or not Coach K was out or not. Eight losses is still eight losses

Villanova, Kansas, and Gonzaga are the likely picks to grab the other top seeds in their respective regions. The question is, who gets the last Spot? For one, it should be someone who won their conference tournament. Secondly, the last spot shouldn’t be given to someone who has consistently lost games throughout the season. Duke was ranked 14th as the last AP Poll was released. If the selection committee things winning a few games in their tournament gives you the opportunity to jump 10 teams who have performed just as good, then the system is deeply flawed.

The Probable Recievers

My prediction is that UCLA or Oregon deserve the rights to the last top seed. Arizona is the Dark Horse in the race after their win over UCLA. North Carolina has played well but two losses to Duke will derail their chances.

Kentucky may or may not get a look at the final 1-seed. One thing that can be said for sure is that it certainly should not go the Blue Devils. All hate aside, there are just more teams that’s deserve the seed. Duke, Kentucky, as well as North Carolina are my picks as the two seeds. The blue bloods will have to fight for their chance to have eternal glory this season.
