Kentucky Basketball fans are the most prominent fan base in the country. Fans will be swarming the SEC Tournament in Nashville. Cats fans need to be aware of enhanced security measures being taken this season.
The Big Blue Nation is the best fan base in all of college basketball. No one travels like Kentucky Basketball fans. With that being said, fans looking to head south to the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in the coming weeks should be aware of some security measures that may be different from what they’re use to.
According to a release a few days ago, the SEC released it’s regulations for both the Men’s and Women’s SEC Tournaments. Kentucky fans are, of course, will take over Nashville. Fans are asked to allow extra time to make their way to the arena. The SEC states that fans are encouraged to arrive early and leave unnecessary items behind.
Prohibited Items
- Tobacco Products (includes electronics)
- Video Equipment
- Noisemakers
- Containers (Coolers, Squeeze bottles, thermos)
- Laser Devices
- Cameras with lenses longer than 4-inches
- Radios without headphones
- Signs or banners (must reflect good sportsmanship.)

Permitted Bags
The SEC permits bags that are clear, vinyl, or PVC that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ X 12″. Tournament attendants may also carry one-gallon freezer bags as well as small clutch bags that are not bigger than 4.5″ x 6.5″. Additionally, Bags with medical items can be permitted. Patrons will not be able to bring purses, briefcases, backpacks, or fanny packs into the Bridgestone Arena. Other arena rules and procedures are found here.
SEC Tournament Details
The SEC Tournament will span five days starting on March 8 and extending until March 12, 2017. All games in the first three rounds of the tournament will air on the SEC Network. Semi-Final games will air on ESPN. The SEC Championship will air on March 12 at 12:00 pm ET. on ESPN.
