The 2016 college football season will be the single biggest in Kentucky football history. Mark Stoops is entering his fourth season as head coach and Kentucky hasn’t played in a bowl game since 2010.

In order to make a long-awaited return to a bowl game, the Wildcats will need to win at least six games—and that all starts Week 1.

Kentucky will host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in a tough opening week matchup. The game will be played at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, which creates an invaluable home field advantage.

Fresh off of a high-quality 9-5 season, don’t expect the Golden Eagles to roll over for a power conference opponent.

With the SEC growing stronger every year, it’s half past time the Wildcats begin contending. Southern Miss is one of the more explosive teams in the country, which will put Kentucky’s offense and defense to the test.

The question is: what will the keys to victory be for Coach Stoops and the Wildcats in Week 1?
