Isaac Humphries is looking to earn more playing time with Kentucky basketball in 2016-17. Head coach John Calipari is loving what he’s seeing from the sophomore center.

If you’re a top-tier high school recruit looking for a chance to make the NBA, then Kentucky basketball is the program for you. It’s the perfect program to help players reach and excel at the highest level.

Not every player on the roster is a household name, however, which is why it’s important to know the truth about the depth at Kentucky.

Even the names that are relatively unknown have the potential to become quality NBA players. Those who fail to reach the Association still have a chance to win at the highest collegiate level.

According to CoachCal.com, head coach John Calipari has singled Isaac Humphries out as the returning player who has improved his game the most.

Humphries is one of the most intriguing players on the roster—and he could play a huge role in 2016-17.

Humphries is a 7’0″ and 265-pound goliath of a big man who projects to see some quality minutes at center in 2016-17. Bam Adebayo has a Dwight Howard build, thus implying that he could start at center this season.

Depth at the 5 is relatively slim in Lexington, however, which opens the door for Humphries to make a name for himself.

During his freshman season, Humphries showed flashes of brilliance.

Humphries played double-digit minutes in nine games as a freshman, including two games with 20-plus. He had 12 rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes against Texas A&M, four blocks in 14 minutes against Georgia, and six total games with at least two blocks.

If nothing else, Humphries established that he has the potential to be a high-quality college player.
