It’s a bye week for UK football as they hopefully recover from a few injuries and get ready to face the Gators on the 28th. John Clay has made some observations after three weeks and one of those is that Mark Stoops is a football coach.

"No. 1: Mark Stoops is a football coach. This is a good thing, maybe the best thing. He’s not a promoter or an orator. He’s a coach. And coaches are always thinking one thing: How can we get better? To that end, Stoops is a tweaker. He’s willing to try new things. He moved Bud Dupree from linebacker to defensive end. He moved TraVaughn Paschal from defensive end to linebacker. He’s played two quarterbacks, sometimes on the same series. Against Louisville on Saturday, Stoops and defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot scrapped their base 4-3 alignment and went with three linemen and four linebackers. Not only that, they played true freshman defensive end Jason Hatcher at linebacker just because they believe Hatcher is one of their best 11 players and wanted to get him on the field. It worked, too. Or at least it worked for a half. Louisville appeared confused and off balance until Charlie Strong could get his troops into the locker room to remind them — loudly — that they were the better team."

And here we go again. Another dip into the deep recesses of Larry Vaught’s email account where apparently, he gets no positive email on Kentucky Wildcats football. And once again, most of the comments in the comment section are overwhelmingly positive and negate the feelings in the post. Anyway, here is what Larry is getting in his mailbox:

"Kentucky offensive coordinator Neal Brown knew the honeymoon would not last forever, even if he is a Kentucky native and former UK player. Turns out he was right based on some e-mails I received. First, Mark Hensley: “Really concerned with Neil Brown & what this offense is right now. Run & shoot might be good idea but never proven to sustain long drives, scoring in red zone & getting TOUGH short yard downs. Way too one dimensional. Can we snap to QB under center? UofL did it occasionally (& it worked). This offensive style will kill the defensive growth this year. Don’t like it!!Next comes this from Barry Peel: “If losses are lessons (and let’s hope they are) then UK should earn a Ph.D. before the season is over. Lesson number on: how NOT to beat yourself!”"

And after reading the comments, I have to ask myself if Larry Vaught has an ulterior motive in posting these..   Let’s all remember that in Novemebr, the “Petrino to Kentucky” movement caught a lot of momentum after Vaught posted an article with quotes from Joe B Hall “endorsing” Petrino. And now, after both losses, Vaught has printed  emails doubting UK and being fairly negative. Even the title of the story says that “Readers confirm” the UK honeymoon would not last.

Despite the fact UK was 2-10 last year, most UK fans and commenters on Vaught’s articles still seem to be firmly behind this team and not going negative.

What gives, Larry?
