Should Kyle Wiltjer stay or should he go?

All you have to do is to say someone could be a “Randall Cobb type of playear” for Kentucky and my ears perk up. So it’s with great interest that I present Larry Vaught’s quotes from Demitrious Davis’s father who envisions that his son can have a Cobb like role at Kentucky:

"“You like coach Brown’s offense. He puts the ball in playmaker’s hands. Some kids are built to play in space. Given them a 2-yard dump pass and they can go 70 yards. But they can also run between tackles if need be,” the twins’ father, Chris, said. “I think that is the way college football is going and where the NFL is on its way to. I don’t worry about the NFL, but I tell my boys if you want to play on Sunday (in the NFL), you have got to be good on Saturdays (in college). Demitrious was an all-state quarterback but Brown envisions him maybe being like another former high school quarterback — Randall Cobb — who turned into one of the best ever all-purpose players at UK and now stars for the Green Bay Packers. “Coach Brown will put Demitrious at running back/receiver, sort of like what UK did with Cobb,” the father said. “Chris also probably will be a receiver, but could go to cornerback with the low depth there.”"

As we know, the number of available rosters for Kentucky Wildcat football are dwindling and the staff is being more selective which scholarships they accept.  But if four star CB Nigel Patten makes the call for Kentucky, you have to think that his commitment will be accepted without delay.  It looks like it could be a battle betweeen UK and Tennessee for him.

"Kentucky and Tennessee haven’t seen much success on the football field over the past few years but both football programs are recruiting at a very high level. They could go head-to-head for a top cornerback prospect later this year. Four-star corner Nigel Patten told Cats Illustrated in a recent interview that the Wildcats and Volunteers have caught his attention. He doesn’t have any favorites but you can bet that both of those programs would be on his short list if he had one. “I can say for sure I’ll go to Kentucky and Tennessee for official visits,” Patten said. To date Patten has just visited four in-state schools: Florida, Florida State, Miami and UCF. But the Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington defensive back said it would be a mistake to read too much into that and assume his heart is set on staying in the Sunshine State. “(Location) doesn’t really matter to me. If I could go to Alaska and play football that’s where I’d go if it was best. I don’t feel like I have a (favorite). All my options are open,” he said. Derrick Ansley has been talking to Patten from the UK staff and four-star quarterback pledge Drew Barker has been reaching out to him as well."
