Kentucky Football Needs Your Help

UPDATE

Here’s the e-mail:

Dear Alumni and Friends:

At the start of the General Assembly session Governor Steve Beshear, Senate President Robert Stivers and Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo were joined by more than 30 legislators in announcing their support for construction projects planned by six of the state’s universities. Those projects require no state funds but will be self-financed by each university upon approval of their respective boards.

This was a great announcement and we need your help to make it a reality. We need you to contact your state representative at the contact info below.

Please email Rep. Susan Westrom at [email protected] You can also leave a message at 1-800-372-7181.

Message: You are my state representative. Please approve the University of Kentucky to construct their planned construction projects that will benefit students. Thank you for your support.

UK has three very exciting planned projects:

A renovation and expansion of the Gatton College of Business & Economics building will allow the College to accommodate a demand of 50% more students, engage in more collaborative teaching and research and improve student success. Generous contributions from donors will pay for most of the improvements.
A renovation of Nutter Training Center and Commonwealth Stadium will benefit student-athletes through better health, fitness and nutrition facilities and improve the fan experience through the addition of 18-20 suites, 2,500 club seats and improved concourse areas. Athletics will fund the improvements largely with revenues generated by the suites and club seats.
A new Academic Science building is critical to those students in the STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and math – and will allow teaching to move from the outdated Chemistry-Physics building that is the 2nd most used building on UK’s campus. In a unique partnership, UK Athletics will fund $65M of the cost of the new facility through additional revenues generated by the Southeastern Conference.

Thank you very much for your support of your University of Kentucky.

News is leaking out that Kentucky is requesting help from alumni in regards to the Commonwealth Stadium renovation project:

You can help by going here: http://www.lrc.ky.gov/whoswho/hsedist.htm  and contacting your State Representative and ask for support of the construction projects. Don’t let all of the positive momentum that’s been built up be ruined by not getting Commonwealth the renovations it needs.
