After coming to Kentucky with least amount of hype of the 2012 recruiting class, not only is Willie Cauley-Stein surpassing everyone’s expectations, but the man who was once thought of as a “project”, who would be at UK for multiple seasons, may in fact be the latest one-and-doner based on how much scouts love his potential. The newest NBADraft.net rankings were released today, ant they have Stein at No. 8 for the 2013 NBA Draft. Even more surprising was he was ranked ahead of
Alex Poythress (16th) and Archie Goodwin (15th).

ESPN.com analyst Chad Ford was asked about Cauley-Stein in Wednesday’s chat, and Ford said he could sneak into the NBA Draft lottery. If he keeps having performances like he did Wednesday night vs. Eastern Michigan, the likelihood of him leaving next year will only grow.
