New Orleans Hornets 97 – Charlotte Bobcats 82

  • Anthony Davis, Forward, New Orleans
  • Darius Miller, Forward, New Orleans
  • Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Forward, Charlotte

In the battle between two teams that struggled mightily last season, it seems that two former Kentucky Wildcats is better than one as the New Orleans Hornets got the best of the Charlotte Bobcats by the score of 97 to 82.  For the Hornets, Anthony Davis was the leading scorer, with 22 points.  Davis also added 9 rebounds, an assist and a block in 30 minutes of play.  Also for New Orleans, Darius Miller saw 12 minutes of action off the bench, scoring 8 points, blocking a shot, and getting one steal.  Miller shot 3 of 4 from the field including 2 of 3 from behind the arc.  Miller picked up 4 personal fouls in only 12 minutes which will be something he looks to improve upon come the regular season.  For Charlotte, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist got the start, playing 29 minutes, scoring 10 points, pulling down 3 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists and blocking one shot.

Chicago Bulls 92 – Memphis Grizzlies 88

  • Marquis Teague, Guard, Chicago
  • Nazr Mohammed, Center, Chicago

If two former Kentucky Wildcats is better than one, then two former Kentucky Wildcats is sure better than none.  The Chicago Bulls edged out the Memphis Grizzlies by the score of 92 to 88.  Former Cat Nazr Mohammed played 23 minutes, scoring 13 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and blocking a shot.  Also for the Bulls, Marquis Teague played only 4 minutes, had a steal, two turnovers, and went 0 of 2 from the field.  Not Teague’s best use of the small amount of time he was given but as some rookies do, he may have been pressing to prove himself, trying to earn more playing time.
