1. Defensive struggles continue

While the Kentucky basketball team did well to hold the Gators to under 70 points, glaring defensive struggles remain. Hamidou Diallo, Kevin Knox, and Quade Green are each noticeable defensive liabilities for the Cats. Of course, if these three are scoring well or rebounding well, then their defensive deficiencies are easier to excuse or ignore.

The facts are simple: Knox and Diallo are completely lost on defense. Green simply doesn’t do a good job containing dribble penetration. I still expect Big Blue Nation will see more 2-3 zone from the Cats moving forward. The zone should make it easier to protect some of UK’s defensive weaknesses.  Hopefully Jarred Vanderbilt will be able to play more than 20 minutes moving forward. His versatility should help stabilize Kentucky’s defense.
