1. Why did he play in the bowl game?

Obviously, Stephen Johnson was injured and that’s why someone other than Johnson received snaps. Speculation was widespread that Barker or Gunnar Hoak would transfer away from UK once highly-recruited Terry Wilson committed to the Cats. The smart money was on Barker to leave, as he would be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.

So with this speculation, why was Barker the backup QB taking snaps in place of Johnson? I refuse to believe that the UK coaching staff didn’t anticipate a great chance of Barker transferring to another school. So why play Barker instead of Hoak? If the staff, on one level or another, foresaw this transfer coming, then why not play Hoak in the bowl game?
