Let’s get to know the Kentucky Wildcats kickers.

  • Austin MacGinnis- 5-10, 175-pound sophomore from Sacramento, California. MacGinnis was the main kicker for the Kentucky Wildcats last season, setting records of his own. He made 21 of 27 field goal attempts, combined with all 41 extra point attempts. MacGinnis set a school record with a 54-yard field goal against the Tennessee Volunteers, while earlier in the season he had tied the school record with a 53-yard field goal against Ohio. He had one other field goal over the 50 yard line, MacGinnis had a 51-yard field goal against the Florida Gators to send that game into overtime in Gainesville. It’s safe to say that the Wildcats are going to go with MacGinnis again this season and he’s going to be a vital role for the team.
  • Max Strong- 5-11, 181-pound junior from Louisville, Kentucky. While Strong hasn’t seen playing time for the Wildcats, he’s still a part of the practice squad, which will continue to help MacGinnis grow as a kicker himself. They can combine their knowledge and create a monster. He may see playing time this season, he may not, but he is what helps MacGinnis push himself to be better.

Expect the Wildcats to make most of their extra point attempts and field goals this season while they’re led by MacGinnis. His improvement over last season is something that Wildcat fans can look forward to, because he’ll likely just continue to get better during his years in Lexington. The kickers may not seem too important, but MacGinnis scored 104 for the Wildcats last season on his own.
