Now that the NBA draft lottery has come and gone, fans of the league can start to really get a grasp were their favorite players will go, or who their favorite team might get. For the Kentucky Wildcats, the excitement will last for both rounds as their are players projected as high as the first overall pick, and some who could unfortunately not hear their name called.

More from Opinion

There are many possible landing spots for the former Kentucky Wildcats. Some fans would like to see them stay somewhere close to home such as Indiana so the driving distance is not too far to go watch them play. With 18 active players on NBA teams right now, some like the thrill of trying to have a player on each NBA team or former Cats meeting up together on the same team (Phoenix Suns). However, there is a certain spot that fits each player best, which spots are they?

Karl Anthony-Towns

For most of the regular season it seemed as if Jahlil Okafor out of Duke was the for sure number one pick for this years NBA draft. After a few right handed hooks and big time blocks, Towns proved that he could play both sides of the ball and should be taken number 1 overall.

The most likely landing spot for Karl and the best fit for him is and should be the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves have a young core of future studs in the league, such as former number one pick Andrew Wiggins. The Timberwolves are missing one piece to really start contending to make the playoffs and that is a big man who can play both sides of the ball. Imagine in 3 years a starting line up that includes Towns, Gorgui Dieng, Andrew Wiggins, and Zach Lavine… a scary team for the future.

Willie Trill-Stein

First I will start off by saying writing trill in someone’s name is something that I never though that I would do. Beside that… The Kentucky Wildcats were very lucky to have Willie for three years and see him blossom into the player that he is today. At first a timid offensive player who had to fill in for an injured Nerlens Noel, now a projected top ten pick who is ready to start (Chris Webber) and throw down more vicious dunks in the NBA.

Kentucky Wildcats fans really want to see Stein in Sacramento teaming up with DeMarcus Cousins, but if he is going to come in and play right away, the Kings are not the best fit. The Kings need a power forward who can spread the floor, and Trill-Stein needs a point guard who can penetrate and lob it up to the rim. The best place for him to land would be at the seven spot in Denver. When healthy, Ty Lawson is always among the top assist leaders in the NBA. With his blinding speed and Willie’s ability to run the floor would mesh well together.
