Kentucky Wildcats Football: Two-Handed Pushups Only?

After the Kentucky Wildcats debut win for the 2014 college football season, everyone is hyped about what the future holds. Of course, a lot of the hype needs to be controlled, as it was only UT Martin that we beat. However, with the first team defense playing the way it did, and the offense firing on all cylinders, there is reason to be excited. The 59 points scored were exciting for everyone in Big Blue Nation…except one. That one exception is the Wildcat mascot, who has to do one-handed pushups for every point scored. Well, if you were at the game, you may have noticed some two-handed pushups late. It appears now that this is a change that will stick.

After a 59-point outburst, UK’s offense looks much improved. All those touchdowns were a lot of fun for everyone at Commonwealth, save for The Wildcat. It’s long been a tradition for our mascot to do one-arm push-ups following each score based on how many points on the scoreboard, which meant 303 total push-ups on Saturday. Anticipating more big scoring days this season and beyond, The Wildcat is going to get a reprieve. From now on, he’ll do regular push-ups.

If the rest of the season produces scoring outputs like the one that occurred against UT Martin this past Saturday, I think we can all agree that this is an acceptable change. Heck, if the rest of the season has the offense rolling like this, the Wildcat can do whatever the heck he wants. I’m sure the rest of the Big Blue Nation will be going nuts and downing shots, so why shouldn’t the Wildcat have a little more free reign as well?
