As many of you know, the now annual University of Kentucky Alumni Game is happening later this month. It is one of the many things that head coach John Calipari has done since his arrival to Lexington, KY in order to fully embrace the history and tradition of the Big Blue Nation. Now, unlike previous years, this years event is going to be a little bit different. Instead of being only former Wildcats in the game, it will feature a team of former Wildcats versus a team of former players from other colleges. Also, per NBA rules, Kentucky Athletics cannot confirm any players currently in the NBA, but the players themselves can. With these two combined lists, there have been six players that have confirmed they will be playing in the game. Those players are:
With these six confirmations, spots are running out on the Kentucky roster. There have been rumors that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and James Young will participate in some way, though neither can be confirmed. This is going to be a team full of true alumni, those who have not seen the court at Kentucky in quite some time. This should be exciting for fans of all ages, as the younger generation gets to see former Kentucky greats and the older fans get to see players they came to love. Additionally, all proceeds go to charity, so even the cost of the ticket is for a good cause. Everyone should come out if you can, as it will be a lot of fun and a nice stroll down memory lane. As always, Go Big Blue and Go Cats!
