Given three stars by all major services, this O-lineman was the #23 player in the state and the #39 OT in the nation by rivals, ESPN ranked him as the #54 OT. He chose Kentucky over WVU, Cincinnati and Louisville. His family has other collegiate football connections as his grandfather played football at Syracuse.
While it isn’t out of the ordinary for a lineman to redshirt their freshman season, the only clear-cut starter at OT in my eyes is Jordan Swindle. There are four other OT’s plus Krok on the roster and I would say the competition is pretty open from there as there isn’t much experience between them. I think there is a chance he could see the field but a redshirt year never hurt anyone either.
Also given three-stars by the four major services, LaRubbio was still a highly sought after guard- receiving offers from Wisconsin, Nebraska, Louisville, and Arizona among others. Rivals ranked him the 27th top player in the state and the #20 offensive guard in the country- Scout listed him at #28.
We actually have quite a bit of depth at offensive guard, for the starting spot I see Zach west or Max Godby, but they have John Gruenschlanger (who is a 6-11 giant), Nick Haynes and Ramsey Meyers all as backup- plus Cole Mosier and David Baumer. I think a redshirt season and a year in the weight room would have LaRubbio more than ready to get out on the field next season, especially since Godby will be graduated.
