Terrence Jones Dodged One Big Free Agency Bullet, More On the Way?

Terrence Jones was staring a reduction in minutes right in the face as Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh was mulling a four-year $88 million dollar offer to join the Houston Rockets as a free agent.

Everything was setting up well for the Rockets. Bosh could slide right in and play the power forward position alongside Dwight Howard. He would be counted on to bring substantial championship experience to the young Rockets.

However, when the smoke cleared, Bosh still had a five-year $118 million dollar offer on the table to remain in Miami. That is what he chose to do. Houston, who had seemingly done everything right, still wound up swinging and missing which was good news as far as Terrence Jones is concerned.

That doesn’t mean TJ can rest on his laurels by any stretch of the imagination. Rockets coach Kevin McHale was one of the best power forwards to ever play the game. He seems to like having a lot of guys at the four spot. Patrick Patterson, Thomas Robinson and Marcus Morris have all been Houston forwards since Terrence Jones arrived.

The Rockets just added to the again today according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle.

Just more reasons for Jones to stay motivated.

On top of that, Houston still hasn’t bowed out the Kevin Love sweepstakes. They also have their eye on former Kentucky point guard Rajon Rondo as well. I’ve been a fan of this for quite some time.

Houston may land a big name free agent, they may not. No matter what ultimately ends up happening, Terrence just needs to keep working and stay focused.
