Chicago has always been home to incredible basketball talent, Anthony Davis is one of many great players to call the Windy City home.

He recently teamed up with Red Bull Chicago and Slam to promote a three on three tournament that will come to Chicago’s Seward Park on July 26.

The video was great. A.D. was just being A.D. He was relaxed, he was in his element and proud to be back in his hometown. He gave a nice tour of the city.

He was poignant too. Helping his family escape the struggles that they were going through was important to him, something that he was willing to take on whether basketball was the way out or otherwise. Thinking of a way out was on his mind as a sophomore. As we all know his famous growth spurt occurred during his junior season.

Davis displayed a mature focus beyond his years.

There were also some funny moments in the video. His mother had an issue with pronunciation that the family joked with her about. Chicago style pizza is high on his food list. Lastly, former UK football standout Randall Cobb and the Green Bay Packers are Anthony’s NFL team of choice in spite of his father’s love for the Bears.

Treasonous talk for a Chi-Town guy.

It looks like it will be a fun event and a nice tournament with some good basketball. Big Blue Nation, if you’re in Chicago near the end of this month get on out to Seward Park and check out The Brow’s event.
