Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Recruiting: Derrick Jones set to Visit

Derrick Jones, a highly coveted recruit in the Class of 2015, now has multiple college visits set.  He will try to visit five colleges next month in August.  Those colleges being Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisville.  With the exception of Florida, each of those colleges have offered Jones a scholarship.

Jones hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will be entering his senior year at Archbishop Carroll High School.  He is a 6’6″ small forward and is rated by ESPN as a five-star recruit.  ESPN also ranks him as the No. 4 small forward and as the No. 27 overall player in the Class of 2015.  Rivals.com and 247Sports classify Jones as a four-star recruit.

Multiple other colleges are seeking Jones’ talents and have offered him a scholarship as well.  Those colleges are Arizona, Cincinnati, UConn, Maryland, Syracuse, Villanova, and Xavier, among others.  Jones visited UConn las week and enjoyed it, reportedly.

I expect it to take several months for Jones to reach a decision as to where he will be going to college.  He still has several schools to consider and potentially visit.  He must also focus on his academics and playing his senior year of basketball.  Therefore, I believe it will take him until the spring of 2015 to come to a decision.  However, if he is able to visit those five schools next month in August, that could speed up the process a little bit.
