Kentucky Wildcats Football 2014 Preview: Meet Zach Myers

SO: C 6’3, 294

Zach started all four years of high school at offensive guard and tackle and was rated as the #52 best OF in the nation by Rivals. He was one of the top 60 players in Ohio per Rivals and was named second-team All-Southwest Ohio.

You can say that being a Wildcat was his destiny as Zach is the son of former UK OL Brad Myers, who played from 1984-87. During his tenure at UK, his dad blocked for players like George Adams, Mark Higgs, and Marc Logan.

Zach Myers redshirted his first year in Lexington. He started the Western Kentucky game last year and played in just one other game. Zach did represent in the classroom as he was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Expect Zach to see considerable more time this year. He has added about 20 pounds of muscle to help hold his own against the SEC defensive lineman. He is a fiery competitor and quick to pick up the offensive system. He should be a solid backup this year and with a strong summer could find himself in position to fight for a starting job on the line.

I think the extra bulk will help Myers this year as he was a bit undersized last year.  I love his attitude and he has that nasty streak you want in a lineman and he has a great work ethic and never takes a play off.
