In my opinion Tyler Ulis is the most intriguing freshman in this year’s incoming Kentucky basketball class. I wrote about him nearly a year ago but I still think we should be excited about his arrival.
Ulis is going to be polarizing no matter what he does. He already has been to a degree. There has been talk among fans and on various shows about preferences in regards to the size of the point guard. Some prefer traditional size at the position or even bigger than that if possible.
UK legend and two-time national stated in a recent conversation that he grew up a fan of Magic Johnson and that he was in favor of size at the point guard position and he was glad to have the Harrison twins returning.
They definitely bring back much needed experience, options and depth to the backcourt.
Tyler Ulis will provide options in his own way as well. Coach Calipari can play one big guard and one small guard if he likes. We know what it’s like with Andrew and Aaron Harrison already. We could possibly see Ulis and Dominique Hawkins for a different look for a few minutes at a time or maybe more if they have it going against certain opponents.
Being a person who lacks height myself I’m partial to the little fella and I think he will add a nice dimension to next year’s team.
