Keith Bogans, like fellow Cat Nazr Mohammed, has had a long career in the NBA. As the years go by his final year at Kentucky gets farther and farther away.
What a final year he had.
He averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 boards, and 2.7 assists.
The video above is from the previous year 2001-02 but Bogans still balled out and led the team in scoring en route to a win over the Florida Gators in The O’Dome.
Bogans was a key straw that stirred the drink for the 2002-03 team that won 26 games in a row. That team went 32-4.
They started off 6-3 after losing to 81-63 to Louisville on Dec. 28, 2002. They wouldn’t taste defeat again until March 29, 2003 in the Elite Eight when they fell to Marquette 83-69.
That game is better known as the Dwayne Wade game. Flash had a coming out party for his coming out party at UK’s expense. He dropped a triple-double that night.
Keith Bogans was hobbled by a high-ankle sprain.
Had he been healthy maybe the Marquette game plays out a little bit differently. Maybe not.
Bogans still went out there and put up 15 points, right on his average for that season. KB tends to get lost in the shuffle when we reminisce on great Kentucky players. He shouldn’t be overlooked. He was a good one.
