#17 ZACK BLAYLOCK
SOPHOMORE – S
MEET ZACK BLAYLOCK
Zack Blaylock has unfortunatley been plagued by injury for the majority of his collegiate career with Kentucky. Last season in 2013, Blaylock was redshirted as a sophomore. The coaching staff attempted to redshirt him in 2012 as a true freshman. However, other injuries in the defensive backfield forced Blaylock into playing time. Yet, Blaylock played quite well that year as a true freshman. Zack Blaylock is the twin brother of Daron Blaylock, whom also plays at safety for the Wildcats.
AS A WILDCAT
As stated previously, Zack Blaylock was unable to redshirt his freshman year in 2012. He ended up seeing plenty of action as he played in the last seven games of the season, which included three starting assignments. That season, he made 15 tackles, which included a high of seven against Georgia. He did not see any playing time the following season in 2013, as he was redshirted.
I am expecting Zack Blaylock to make several positive strides this season for the Wildcats. I am sure he is eager to get back on the field and prove himself as he comes back from injury. He was a big-play performer in high school as he intercepted 11 passes during his senior season, returning five for touchdowns. He showed flashes of his talent during his freshman campaign. Even though I expect Daron Blaylock and Ashely Lowery to start over him, I think he is the next best safety on the team and that he can have a starting role at some point in the upcoming season. I am excited to see how he performs after being redshirted.
