Conner High School, about an hour and a half away from Lexington and home to two Kentucky football players- Drew Barker and Cameron Fogle. While one is better known to the BBN than the other, they helped each other end up in the blue and white. How? As one of Conner’s hottest quarterback/wide receiver duos. The two took pretty different paths to get to Mark Stoops’ practice field, however.
#83 Cameron Fogle
Fogle redshirted his first season at Kentucky, but with a thin (and currently injured) WR group he looks to gain some playing time this season- especially if Drew Barker wins the starting job. He was not highly rated or recruited out of high school, where he also played some safety as well, but according to 247sports he ran a 4.4 40 so his speed gives his game an extra dimension.
#7 Drew Barker
Freshman (early enrollee)
Barker choose Kentucky over South Carolina and Tennessee. He was a 4-star recruit by all major services and the #1 prospect in Kentucky and a runner-up for Mr. Kentucky Football. The BBN got their first glimpses of Barker on a major stage in the Elite 11 and the Army-All American Bowl- on the winning west team where he led 2 touchdown drives. He enrolled at UK in January and went through spring practice with the team and is currently in the midst of the quarterback battle with Patrick Towles, Max Smith and Reece Phillips. Barker is accurate in the pocket witha strong arm but can use his legs when needed. Whether or not Barker wins the starting job this year, I expect him to see the field and have a serious impact in his time at Kentucky- whether or not that is right away.
Both had successful spring games and you saw the Conner connection, Barker to Fogle, once again. Together the two led Conner to the state semifinals and 2nd round of the playoffs, could they make big plays together at Kentucky?
