Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Former Mr. Basketball Hickey will not return to LSU

Anthony Hickey was one of the best players in the SEC this season, and was quickly emerging as one of the top point guards in the country. Today, news broke that he will not be coming back to LSU according to head coach Johnny Jones.

That news was a shock to everybody around the nation, and mostly in the Bluegrass state where he was named Mr. Basketball in the state a couple of years earlier. Hickey always played great against Kentucky, and John Calipari always seemed really close with him and his family.

I was thinking as soon as the news broke that something must have happened for him to transfer; because he is a junior and would only have one year left to play so why leave? Well, Scott Anderson from the Courier-Journal tweeted out that Anthony Hickey has been arrested, but the tweet didn’t state when or what he did.

Another thought that came into my head when I heard the news was will John Calipari give Hickey a chance to finish up his college career in his home state? I would think he would at least give it a look but it all depends on the reason he was locked up, and there is no information on that issue as of now.

Kentucky isn’t hurting for guards at all, but Calipari and staff are giving a hard look at WVU transfer Eron Harris for the 2015-2016 season. So if the charges if any aren’t too severe I wouldn’t be shocked one bit if Kentucky made a push for Hickey.

Could you imagine the speed of Tyler Ulis, and Anthony Hickey in the back court if it was to happen?
