Julius Randle and James Young. who both finished their freshman season with the Kentucky Wildcats, will be participating in this week’s 2014 NBA Draft Combine.
Kentucky Wildcats fans will be able to watch the two freshmen take part in the 2014 NBA Draft Combine when the ESPN television family of networks covers it on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16. Coverage will be split between ESPNU and ESPN2. ESPNU will air from 10 AM to 1 PM both days with ESPN2 picking up coverage from 1-3 PM.
WHAS-11 News in Louisville reported last night during their late local news that Randle would not be participating in the skills tests. While Randle and Young are expected to be drafted in the first round, several top prospects will not be in attendance, including Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker.
With the NBA Draft just over a month a way, the NBA Draft Lottery will be held on Tuesday, May 20. Once the lottery takes place and the first round is clear on who picks when, teams will take a look at their needs and move closer to ranking their draft boards.
The Boston Celtics are one of several prominent teams that are expected to pick in the lottery and the NBA Draft Express mock draft (updated on May 8) shows the Celtics selecting Randle with the 5th pick of the draft. Randle would be a good fit for the Celtics. Regardless of who picks in the lottery, Randle will not last that long.
As for Young, it’s hard to determine where exactly he will be selected but it will likely between the 15th and 20th picks. The Celtics could very well use him with their second pick of the first round.
