James Young Signs With Roc Nation Sports, Capping Kentucky Wildcats Career

James Young was a Kentucky fan favorite this year, catching fire and scoring at will for a lot of the season. After the national championship game loss, many fans knew that he would be exiting after just one season and joining Julius Randle as a sure-fire first round draft pick. The only thing left for Mr. James Young to do was find and sign on with an agent. After being seen court-side with Rihanna just last week, speculation began to rise that Jay-Z might be trying to lure in James Young. Well, news broke earlier today that it was indeed true, as James Young has signed on with Jay-Z and Roc Nation Sports to represent him as his NBA career begins. Here is what Roc Nation Sports had to say about James Young.

James Young, shooting guard, played most recently for the University of Kentucky.

As a junior at Troy High School (Troy, MI), Young averaged 25.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals. He earned first-team All-State honors from the Associated Press, Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. As a senior at Rochester High School (Rochester, MI), he was ranked by ESPNU as the #2 shooting guard in the country.

Young signed with the University of Kentucky on October 11, 2012, and was one of the top-ranked basketball players in the class of 2013. He scored a career-high 26 points, including nailing five 3s in Kentucky’s win over UT Arlington and a team-high 20 points in the National Championship vs Connecticut. He played in both the 2013 Brand Jordan Classic and the 2013 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game.

On April 17, 2014 Young declared for the 2014 NBA Draft.

With everything official now, it is time for Young to go out and show the NBA what he’s got. Kentucky fans from across the nation will join together and root for him every step of the way, as he gave us all he had every night out on the court. We here at Wildcat Blue Nation will support you and wish you the best of luck! Go show them what you’ve got, Mr. Young. And, as always, GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
