It’s been a busy day for Yahoo!’s Pat Forde as it appears he is now retracting his earlier tweets about Derek Willis transferring.
Derek Willis update: Del Willis, Derek’s dad, says this afternoon that he talked to his son today and he “seemed firm” on staying at UK.

Other sites have talked to Willis’s father as well as other sites. Kentucky Sports Radio Matt Jones also talked to Willis’s dad and reports that “Derek 100% plans on coming back to Kentucky”.
So there is that. I’m glad to see Willis stay and think he can eventually work his way into the rotation but a redshirt year MAY be a possibility this year. There is no shame in that and he can get stronger and come back ready to battle for a spot in 2015-16 and have three years of eligibility left.
This is the second instance of really bad reporting by national reporters concerning Kentucky’s players. ESPN’s Jeff Goodman jumped the announcement on Julius Randle leaving by about a week and even had Randle refute his claim by Twitter.
What ever happened to getting 2-3 reliable sources and maybe calling the Dad first, guys?
