Derek Willis looking to transfer from Kentucky Wildcats?

It was only inevitable that this talk surface, especially with the overabundance of talent the Kentucky Wildcats have in their front court next season. There are reports that Derek Willis is looking to transfer from UK.

Regardless of what you think about Forde, this is probably a valid story. The big thing is that Willis has not asked for a transfer apparently and is just “weighing options”

I’d be interested to see where this talk is coming from because just last week, there seemed to be reports denying a transfer. Willis’s high school coach, Troy Barr, had this to say about a conversation with Derek’s dad.

“I spoke with his father [Monday] night and the only thing we talked about was Derek playing at Kentucky next year,” Barr said. “There have been no discussions regarding anything but him playing at Kentucky.”

Barr says Willis “knew what he was getting into” signing with Kentucky out of Mount Washington (Ky.) Bullitt East.

“We talked before he left and he knew it was going to be a struggle,” Barr said. “It is for most freshmen.”

Barr readily admits that there were times when Willis, who averaged 2.8 minutes per game, became frustrated with his playing time last season.

“I think Derek got frustrated as most freshmen do,” Barr said. “But the practices I went to, it’s not like he didn’t belong. I think it was just a lack of strength and confidence. I think he was humbled this year and he has a little bit of an attitude about it.”

Complete BS. Another fine example of Forde writing bad things about Kentucky to sell his stories.

Find willis’ twitter. He denies this and calls it annoying

He did say it was annoying. Forde obviously does not like Kentucky and would love a talented player like Derek Willis to leave the Big Blue with a hole he created. Derek has the skills necessary to play in the NBA. He will hone those skills everyday in practice against NBA to be opponents. A championship ring along the way to showing all he belongs with the best, played with the best and will be ahead of everyone else’s game along with the best.
