Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Small Forward position will be key next season

The 2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats are going to be one thing all season and that is HUGE. Willie Cauley Stein announced his decision to come back about 2 weeks ago, and then this week Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee, and Dakari Johnson all decided to stay in Lexington next season. Lets not forget who is coming in as freshman either as Trey Lyles who stands at 6-9, and Karl Towns who is a growing 7 footer.

Kentucky will have the best front court in the country next season, and it won’t even be close but I wanted to focus on Devin Booker as he will play a vital role for the SF position next season.

As I write this nobody knows what the Harrison twins will do, but lets assume they come back. Devin Booker will most likely battle Alex Poythress for the starting 3 spot, and that will make each player much better.

Devin is a pure shooter from the outside, and can get to the basket in many different ways. Booker has a much different game than Poythress, but I feel they can compliment each other very well next season. I see Jeff Goodman wondering about people staying “happy” next season, and I know that won’t be a problem for this position because both of these guys just want to win.

Now if the Harrison twins decide to go pro then Devin Booker will have to play a little of the 2 and 3, and he can do either with no problem.

Hopeefully by the time you read this we have a decision on the Harrison Twins, and we can start plugging away at starting lineups. Starting lineups won’t be anything if they come back because we will have 12 guys who can flat out ball.

But I do think the most important position next season will be the SF spot.
