Alex Poythress To Return For His Junior Season

In a press release through the university, sophomore Alex Poythress has announced that he will be returning to the Kentucky Wildcats for his junior season. With this announcement, John Calipari will have no fewer than six McDonald’s All-Americans and seven top-50 recruits on the 2014-2015 basketball team. Check out comments made by Alex Poythress below on his decision to return for his junior season.

Playing in the NBA has always been a dream of mine, but I want to make sure that I’m NBA-ready before I make that jump. By coming back, I’ll be so much closer to earning my degree in business and it will give me another year to prepare my game and my body for the next level.

Also, John Calipari had something to say about Alex Poythress returning for his junior season, stating that he was excited for his return.

I’m excited for Alex and the decision he’s arrived at. I’m proud of the work he committed to this past season, on and off the floor, and think he’s ready to take that next step and lead this team next season.

Alex Poyhtress now joins fellow sophomore Willie Cauley-Stein and freshman Marcus Lee in returning for next season. With Julius Randle and James Young leaving for the NBA Draft, we are only waiting on Dakari Johnson and the Harrison twins in announcing their intentions.
