It is official. Julius Randle will enter the NBA Draft and forego his sophomore year at the University of Kentucky. Randle made his announcement just minutes ago. It should come as no shock that Randle is turning pro as he probably would have been a lottery pick out of high school if it were possible.
In his season at Kentucky, Randle averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds a game while helping to lead Kentucky to the national title game. Most NBA mock drafts have Randle as a top five pick and he could go as high as three in some mock drafts. It appears the Randle is ready for the NBA and here is what one scout said about him recently.
Man, I just fell in love with Randle. I think he’s a hell of a junkyard dog, at 6-9, quick feet, quick leaper, great intensity and great motor. I just think he’s gonna be a hell of a player, man, a better version of a Kenneth Faried-type.
Once you develop more moves and get a little mid-range jump-shot, he’ll be something, because he’s got a natural rebounding instinct and his motor, you can’t teach that motor. He’ll be a better version of Michael Beasley. He plays hard at both ends, and motors translate to the NBA.
As of now, we are still waiting to hear about the NBA futures of Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Alex Poythress, and Dakari Johnson. Click that previous link for the same scout talking about the other UK players.
