Ever since John Calipari has taken over at the University of Kentucky, he has worked tirelessly to recruit the best players in the nation. Through this, he has built a revolving door of elite players, somehow always getting them to gel into a cohesive unit. Sometimes it takes longer than others, but his teams are a perennial threat to make a run in March at the national championship. However, there is one thing that a lot of people overlook when thinking about Kentucky. That is the simple star power that is now associated with the Big Blue Nation.
At the final four game against Wisconsin, rapper Drake made an appearance to cheer on John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. While he claims to have been a Kentucky fan for a while, his allegiance was not shown until Calipari rolled into Lexington. In addition, famous stars like Ashley Judd (the obvious choice) and Josh Hutcherson often speak out in favor of the Wildcats. In fact, Josh Hutcherson shared a video of his reaction of the end of the Wisconsin game. Throw in big time NBA stars like Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James, and the Big Blue Nation is well represented in the superstar world.
Tonight, it is being rumored that more relevant star power will show up, as former Kentucky players/current NBA stars will come out in full force to cheer on their team. Rumored to be there are the likes of John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Patrick Patterson, and Darius Miller. With these star professional players gracing the sidelines, all of whom donned a Kentucky jersey at some point, the recruits will be drooling over themselves at seeing this on TV. Chalk this up as another great move by Mr. John Calipari in the way of recruiting. He continues to be, by far and away, the best salesman in ranks of college basketball coaches.
