Earlier today, Rivals.com released its updated list of the top 150 basketball recruits in the Class of 2015. Charles Matthews, the University of Kentucky’s lone commitment for 2015 thus far, is ranked at No. 15 by Rivals.
Matthews was previously ranked at No. 11 by Rivals before their updated list came out today. He is a 6’5″ shooting guard from Chicago, Illinois and is also rated as a five-star recruit. Matthews committed to Kentucky back in February and will be eligible to sign with the Wildcats in November. He chose Kentucky over Illinois, Kansas, Marquette, and Michigan State.
Malik Newman, Kentucky’s top recruiting target, remains the No. 1 overall prospect for the Class of 2015 in Rivals’ updated list. Newman is a 6’3″ shooting guard from Jackson, Mississippi and is also rated as a five-star recruit. He also has offers from Baylor, Duke, Georgetown, and Kansas, to name a few.
Other top prospects that Kentucky is targeting that are just behind Newman include Ivan Rabb (No. 2, power forward), Diamond Stone (No. 3, center), and Stephen Zimmerman (No. 4, center).
Other recruits with Kentucky scholarship offers in the Class of 2015 that are in the Rivals top 150 include Skal Labissiere (No. 6, center), Carlton Bragg (No. 10, power forward), and Derrick Jones (No. 25, small forward).
Raymond Spalding (No. 70, power forward) and Camron Justice (No. 132, shooting guard) are the only Kentuckians on Rivals’ list. Spalding is being evaluated by Kentucky and Louisville and has offers from Butler, Clemson, Dayton, Indiana, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Xavier, among others. Justice has offers from Boston College, Butler, Gonzaga, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
