2014 NCAA Basketball Tournament: Wisconsin 75 American 35

The (2) Wisconsin Badgers beat the (15) American University Eagles, 75-35, this afternoon in the first game of the Round of 64 in the West Region of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

American led the Badgers 19-13 at the under-8 minute media timeout. But, after the break, Wisconsin went on a 19-3 run to close out the first half, taking a 32-22 lead into halftime.

In the second half, it was all Wisconsin, as the Badgers outscored the Eagles 43-13 over the last 20 minutes of the game.

Three Badgers scored in double figures, led by Traevon Jackson’s 18 points. Ben Brust added 17 points, and Sam Dekker scored 11 points. Tony Wroblicky and John Schoof scored 11 points each for American, to lead all scores for the Eagles. Jesse Reed scored 9 points. Interestingly, none of American’s subs scored in the game.

Wisconsin moves on to the Round of 32 where they will play the winner of (7) Oregon – (10) BYU on Saturday.
