In game 4 of Friday night SEC tournament action, Georgia (18-12, 12-6 SEC) took on Ole Miss (19-13 SEC 9-9) for the right to battle Kentucky Saturday evening. It was a tight first half as both teams shot comparable percentages, Ole Miss shooting 43.8% and Georgia shooting 45.8%. Ole Miss’ Jarvis Summers led all scorers through the first half with 12 points. Jarvis’ teammate, Marshall Henderson was his usual self, jacking up three pointers like his teams life depended on it. Marshall was 1-7 on threes and finished the half with 6 points. Martavious Newby contributed with 6 points as well and bench player Dwight Coleby proved he was worth the minutes as he scored 10.
Georgia got a spark off the bench as guard J.J. Frazier hit 3-4 including 2 three pointers totaling 8 points. Starting guards Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann scored six points each and forward Brandon Morris added seven.
Half time score, Ole Miss 38 – Georgia 36.
The second half gave more of the same as the game continued to be tight. Neither team wanted to concede to the other which made for a heck of a game. Most of the stats for both teams were almost equal to one another from shooting percentages to rebounding to assists.
Jarvis Summers continued to pour it in as he and Marshall Henderson led the way for Ole Miss. Summers ended the night with 26 points and Marshall had 19. Dwight Coleby finished with 10 but it just wasn’t enough to stop Georgia’s balanced attack.
Georgia had four players in double figures led by Charles Mann’s 16 points. Charles was 5-9 from the floor and 5-7 from the charity stripe. J.J. Frazier finished with 11 points and both Brandon Morris and Kenny Gaines added 12.
Georgia won the game 75-73. They will take on our beloved Cats tomorrow at 3:00 pm at the Georgia Dome. Follow here at Wildcat Blue Nation for up-to-date SEC tournament action.
