As the season winds down, it’s only natural for Kentucky Wildcats basketball fans to start playing the annual game of “Who will stay and who will go” question concerning the NBA Draft. Usually at this time of year, pundits are predicting the mass exodus of Kentucky’s freshman class, but that does not appear to be the case. Right now, just Julius Randle and James Young are expected to be the only freshman that may depart. Jeff Goodman over at ESPN routinely ranks the top freshmen in the class and as of now, Julius Randle is the only Wildcat in his top ten.
3. Julius Randle, PF, Kentucky Wildcats
Randle had 25 points and 13 boards in a win at Ole Miss on Tuesday, and finished with eight points and 15 rebounds in an overtime home victory against LSU. Randle now has 14 double-doubles in 27 career games.
This week: Thursday vs. Arkansas; Saturday at South Carolina
Stats: 15.9 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 53 percent FG | Previous rank: 3
It’s interesting to note that Goodman has Randle ahead of the Kansas duo of Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid, who come in a four and five on the list.
NBA mock draft Draft Express has Wiggins and Embiid as the one-two pick in the NBA draft and Randle at four, so there is always room for arguments.
