Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Recruiting: John Calipari was at St. Rita HS for Charles Matthews

Charles Matthews will have already made his decision most likely by the time you are reading this, but if you are living under a rock or don’t have twitter Matthews is making his college decision tomorrow. Matthews is a five star top 15 guard from Chicago, Illinois and plays AAU ball with Kentucky commit Tyler Ulis. Matthews cut his list late last night to Kansas, Marquette, Illinois, Michigan State, and 0f course Kentucky.

When the decision to announce was made public I seriously saw every school on his list except Kansas mentioned as a possible destination. Then some news come out around 11:30 last night that John Calipari was St Rita high school to watch his practice today. I asked some people around the recruiting world, and they all said “This pretty much changes everybody’s mind if they weren’t thinking Kentucky.”

Now, just because he was at Matthews practice today doesn’t mean he is coming to Kentucky tomorrow, but it seems to fit the time table since this decision came out of nowhere.

This raises my question and sole purpose for writing this article…. Is John Calipari the games most relentless recruiter? I would say him and Bill Self are college basketball best recruiters, but no coach works harder than John Calipari.

This is probably the reason why he is the best recruiter in the history of college basketball, and Kentucky fans know what kind of person he is off the court, and that has to help with families as well. Calipari truly cares about everybody in the program, and his players are always first.

Charles Matthews like I said most likely will already have made his college decision before this is posted, but if he commits to Kentucky it is just one piece to a class that I think can be GREAT.
