Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Do These Young Cats Still have a Chance?

The young Cats had the game against the Florida Gators in the palm of their hands. Leading through most of the game, it wasn’t until the last few minutes that the #3 team in the country started taking control of the young Cats. Since winning against the Cats, the Gators have become the #2 team in the country, and it is well deserved, their seniors are playing better basketball than most teams in the country, right now.

After the loss to the Florida Gators, many fans are left questioning if these guys still have a shot at the National Championship. The answer to that question is yes. This young team is still coming together and blending their game, one game at a time. It’s a slow process, but they are 18 and 19 years old, and they’re doing the best that they can. If they can lead throughout most of the game against one of the best teams in the country in mid-February, by March they should be able to win against and become one of the best teams in the country.

The attitude of this young team has been changing, too. They’re constantly high-fiving one another for good plays and are becoming less selfish on the court. They have a fire in them to win and are finally taking responsibility for their own mistakes, big strides for such young players. The attitude before and during the Florida game showed how strong of a team they’re starting to become and it was fun to watch.

Even if a National Championship isn’t in the making for this years Wildcat team, they’re a team we’ll never forget. They’re fun to watch and good guys all around. There’s a possibility the Cats won’t lose them all to the NBA this summer and with the recruits we have coming in next season, it’ll be a fun ride with experience and talent. Fans don’t need to worry about next season yet, this young team may have a few surprises up their sleeves, they aren’t a lost cause. This young Cat team still has a run at the National Championship to make and it isn’t out of their reach.
