Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: HUGE opportunity awaits Kentucky

Its GameDay eve and I can’t wait to be in Lexington tomorrow to watch the ESPN crew talk about our game as it is the featured game this weekend. For Kentucky fans being a “feature” game isn’t anything new, and we are used to it, but this game has a different feel to me. Kentucky is coming in winning 9 out of their last 10, and really not looking that great while doing it besides the Missouri game.

Florida is coming in winners of 16 straight, and some believe may be the best team in the country based on their defense and leadership which is fine, but I think leadership is vastly overrated in the game of college basketball today.

Yesterday Joe Lunardi releasing his first actual mock NCAA tournament bracket, and not surprising anyone Kentucky, and Florida as of now are both locks. Florida is a 1 seed, and Kentucky is the top 3 seed according to ESPN. I think it’s fair Kentucky is getting looked at as a 3 seed right now, but beating Florida would do wonders for them in the seeding aspect when it really matters.

I saw a couple fans on twitter yesterday worried about the lack of energy from this team shown in the last two games, and said “IF we play like that against Florida” well stop right there, because there is no way this team doesn’t show up in front of 24,000 tomorrow night against a top 5 team in the country.

I just wish Kentucky fans would stop being so negative about this team. They are 19-5 looking at a 3 seed in the tournament, and are 1 win away from going back into the top 10. Yes, they are frustrating to watch, but I would bet there are many fans out there that would take 19-5 at this point of the season. Chill Big Blue Nation!!

I’m not going into too much detail about the game tomorrow, but one key to the game is keeping Willie Cauley-Stein out of foul trouble. Our big shot blocker has to be in the game as much as he can to handle Patric Young.
