Kentucky Wildcats Basketball: Auburn could be a major “trap” game

I know most Kentucky fans are looking ahead to Saturday when the #3 ranked team in the country the Florida Gators roll into Rupp Arena, but the game tonight is making me very nervous. Let me tell you that I worry about every game, and usually expect the worst when it comes to Kentucky because everybody plays out of their minds, but this game has me nervous.

Auburn on paper isn’t very good, and their record backs that up as it sits at 11-10 on the season, but they have two guards that are averaging over 20 points a game, and that’s what worries me. Kentucky has gotten better at every aspect of defense since the season has started, but it still needs a lot of work. Perimeter defense is sometimes very good, but most of the time it’s average.

Kentucky is the better team going into the game tonight by a lot, but Auburn is fighting for pride, and Tony Barbee is a Calipari product that would love to be his old boss. Kenny Payne said yesterday during his press conference that their is “no chance” that Kentucky will overlook Auburn, and lets all hope this is the case with a young team.

The key to the game will be the play of Willie Cauley-Stein because I don’t think Auburn has a big guy that can handle our bigs, but if our bigs don’t play with some effort they will be in for a long night.

If Kentucky takes care of business tonight the crowd Saturday will be crazy for a very important game for this Kentucky team.

Auburn always scares me, but lets hope I am just being paranoid and this was all blown out of proportion. Kentucky has to stop the guards for Auburn, and if they do that then I think they walk away with another road victory.
