Needing to solidify their linebacking depth, the Kentucky Wildcats have gotten a crucial signing in the form of Kobie Walker.
He previously committed to to UK over Boston College, Arizona, Oklahoma St., N.C. State, Miami (Fla.) and Wisconsin among others.
He was in town for Kentucky’s annual Spring Game, and the support the fans showed as 50,000+ poured into the stadium in support of their Cats was a major factor is his decision.
Walker has indicated that Kentucky recruited him as an outside linebacker, a position of dire need for Kentucky. As stacked as the 2013 signing class was, it did not include a single linebacker prospect.
Now, Walker will join Dorian Hendrix, Ryan Flannigan and Nico Firios to give the Cats a solid corps. of young backers for the coming seasons.
His strong, sturdy frame appears capable of supporting additional bulk over time. A tough customer who displays good physical play when defending against the run and pass.
Reacts quickly to the quarterback with very good key and diagnosis skills when defending the run and pass. Takes correct angles to the football and limits big plays.
A tough, open field tackler who doesn’t allow cheap yards after contact and moves through traffic very well with the ability to avoid trash and play to the ball.
