*SEC TOURNAMENT – NEW ORLEANS, LA

Under John Calipari,  the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is 5-0 against the LSU Tigers, including blowout wins on the road in 2010 and 2012. This LSU team may not be as much of a pushover, however. LSU is currently has a RPI rank of around 62 and have already given teams like UMass and Memphis close battles, losing both those games by a combined 9 points. The Tigers also own a home win over Missouri. LSU is not unbeatable at home however as they have lost to Tennessee and  #132 Rhode Island.

This is the first of two road games for UK this week and I think this is a must win game for the Cats. One, it will end the talk that UK can not beat a decent team on the road and it will keep UK on pace for a high NCAA seeding. Two, if Kentucky loses, the pressure to win at Missouri will be unbearable. If UK wins tonight, they end a lot of the road worrier talk that plagued the 2010-11 team.

LSU finished 9-9 in the SEC this year and return four starters plus an impressive freshman class. There is optimism that the Tigers can make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. Knocking off Kentucky will be a huge win for their resumes. Let’s meet the Tigers.
