Montaque Gill-Caesar is a junior in high school from Vaughan, Ontario, Canada and is a major basketball recruit that plays for Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia. Over the last few months he has found himself in an interesting situation, whether to remain in the Class of 2015 or reclassify to the Class of 2014 and leave high school a year early.
Gill-Caesar is rated a 6’6″ small forward and is rated by ESPN as a five-star recruit. He is also ranked by ESPN as the 4th best player at his position and as the 19th best player overall for the Class of 2015. These rankings could potentially drop a little if he decides to reclassify into the already star-studded Class of 2014.
This past weekend at the Hoop Hall Classic, Gill-Caesar said he’s still thinking about the decision. “It’s up in the air right now. I have no definite timetable or anything of when I’m going to be making a decision,” he said.
Gill-Caesar already has many big-time offers from schools such as Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio State, and West Virginia. He has only visited Kentucky and West Virginia thus far. Reports have been made indicating that Kentucky would be the favorite should he decide to reclassify into the Class of 2014. However, Gill-Caesar has neither confirmed nor denied this speculation.
