Kentucky Cheer Brings Home #20

UK Cheer and UK Dance Team both competed at the UCA and UDB National Collegiate Championships at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. The basketball team isn’t the only group of winners on the court at Rupp each game it seems.

UKDT placed #5 in hip-hop, moving up a spot from last year. The top nine read 1. Cincinnati 2. UNLV 3. LSU 4. Memphis 5. Kentucky 6. Tennessee 7. Arizona State 8. Florida Atlantic and 9.UCF.

Kentucky cheer took the top spot bring their twentieth national championship back to Lexington; more than any other program. According to American Cheerleader Magazine’s twitter page they “hit their routine and had everyone on their feet”.

Rounding out the top ten was 2. UCF 3. Alabama 4. Ole Miss 5. LSU 6. Cincinnati 7. Minnesota 8. Mississippi State 9. Tennessee and 10. Memphis.  Kentucky has now had 15 titles in the last 20 years. You can watch a portion of their routine here.

UK Cheer will hang a new banner in Rupp Arena and their practice gym after this season. This weekend in UK athletics,  #9 Men’s tennis defeated #7 Duke at Duke for the first time since 1974, #1 Rifle defeated Army, men’s basketball defeated Tennessee, women’s hoops won, UK football alumni had a successful NFL weekend and UK cheer and dance placed at Nationals. Sounds like a good BBN weekend to me.
