Walker also had reported offers from the Florida Gators , Vanderbilt Commorores and Fiesta Bowl champion Central Florida Knights. Michigan, North Carolina, Florida State and Georgia also have show interest in him.
ESPN ranks him as 222nd overall prospect and 12th-best safety in the class of 2015, and Rivals tabbed him the 15th-best safety prospect. He is also high school teammates with offensive guard Luke Hiers, who is ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 guard in the 2015 class.
Walker’s commitment is the second of the 2015 recruiting class, joining 4-star Lovejoy (Ga.) cornerback Montrell Custis.
This is a huge pickup for the Cats, as depth in the defensive backfield was arguably the team’s biggest weakness last year, and Walker joins the likes of Curtis, Marcus McWilson, Darius West, Mike Edwards, Jaleel Hytchye and Nate Willis as 4-star defensive backs to commit to Stoops and his staff since he’s came to UK.
Long and rangy with good straight-line speed. Displays good instincts and awareness in defending the run and pass. Fills running lanes well from depth and overall has good range. Displays excellent ball skills and will not shy away from contact. Might be at his best in zone coverage, reading, reacting and closing on the ball.
